You’re in business now. Congratulations!!
As you are strategizing ways to increase your visibility and get more clients through your doors you think about all them anyways available to you to reach your target market. There’s radio, video, and public speaking. Oh! And there’s free social media!! Yay! Something FREE… so you start doing it ALL and end up spreading yourself too thin.
But wait. Which do I use?
There are three key steps to not spreading yourself too thin on social media:
- Choose no more than two platforms. Trust me, if you find the right ones, you won’t need more.
- Create a workable schedule. Yes, the more you post, the more your audience will be engaged, but if you are burned out on social media no one benefits! So, create a schedule that YOU can work with and give your potential clients the information they need to get to know and trust you.
- Be consistent and how often you post. The consistency is the key to building trust and building your following.
- [Yes I know I said there would be 3 but Issa bonus!] Speak in your own voice. Let your personality show in the posts. It makes it easier for you to create content and it allows your audience to get to know you better and they will keep coming back for more!
The moral of the story is…
You need social media as a new business, but you want to be wise about how you spend your time, your energy, and your money. Maximize a couple outlets and let the outlets work for you before you even consider using other platforms to grow your business! Then, once business picks up, you can hire a team to do it all for you. Until then, choose what is manageable for you while giving your clients content they can use. Won’t that be nice?
